Markhytten was the name of the summer house that lay in the dark forest at Tiller. This was the name of the kennel that was started by Sidsel and Roar Rosten in 1983. Little did they know when the first Golden Retrievers arrived in 1979 and 1981 that dogs would become such an important part of their lives. Kahills Early Dreamer and the Swedish Moorlac Jessica Tate brought with them a good genetic background and became the starting point of kennel Markhytten. First prize in the Elite class hunting and several Certificates at exhibitions were a great inspiration for ongoing breeding. Over the years the kennel produced several Champions and dogs with good retriever features. Dogs that constituted the core of the kennel include NUCH Markhyttens Meggie Mae and NUCH Markhyttens Ophelia. Ophelia was also winner of the Sixpence trophy in combination hunting and exhibition. Markhyttens dogs that have also left their mark in Sweden and Finland are Markhyttens Miles Away and FiUCH Markhyttens Make The Grade. Many former customers probably also recall the company Markhyttens Fôrservice, where diets Flatazor and Proplan and some dog supplies were sold from the kennel. This business is no longer active, but there is still opportunity for clipping and trimming of dogs by appointment.
